Claus Hessler is a German drummer, author and teacher. Best known for his specialism in open-handed drumming, Hessler took up the drums at the age of 4. Alongside his prolific work as a session artist, he published his first book Open-Handed Playing Vol. 1 in 2008, and its sequel, Open-Handed Playing Vol. 2 – A Step Beyond, in 2011.
