Description

One of the great joys of playing any instrument is to make music with friends. The Young Violinists Repertoire Book 4 is part of The Young Violinist’s Repertoire four-book series of violin and piano duets is to provide a varied repertoire for young instrumentalists to play together.  Following on from the first three books in the series, Book 4 is for the player already familiar with first and third positions. It presents a broad range of European music from three centuries, including some beautiful but relatively unfamiliar pieces by Handel, Leopold Mozart and others. Priority has been given to melodic pieces demanding a sustained legato, so that players are introduced to the cantabile style, so important to violin playing. About ABRSM:

ABRSM is the UK’s largest music education body, one of its largest music publishers and the world’s leading provider of music exams, holding over 650,000 assessments in more than 90 countries every year. As a registered charity, we also make significant donations towards music education initiatives around the world.

Founded in 1889, we have a long history but our mission has stayed the same: to nurture a love for music, and to inspire achievement in it. At ABRSM, we believe that everyone, wherever they’re from, should have access to high-quality music-learning.

Our partnership work is never one-off – we build long-lasting relationships and support ongoing projects. We advocate for music, playing our part to ensure the future of music education and its place in society. Working towards this goal for over a century means that we’re a trusted voice at a boardroom table as well as on a concert stage.

Led by our governing body our staff members, examiners and volunteers work with passion and dedication to make learning music what it should always be: a joyous and life-enriching experience.

Graded music exams provide a structured framework for progression from beginner to advanced musician. Most subjects are offered from Grades 1–8 and have three standards of pass: a straight pass, a pass with merit and a pass with distinction. Candidates may enter any Practical or Music Theory exam grade without having taken any other, though there is a requirement to have passed Grade 5 Theory or Grade 5 Practical Musicianship or Grade 5 in a solo Jazz subject before Grade 6–8 Practical exams can be taken.

More than 600,000 candidates take ABRSM exams each year in over 93 countries. ABRSM also provides a publishing house for music which produces syllabus booklets, sheet music and exam papers and runs professional development courses and seminars for teachers.
